At Calvary we support Open Doors, an international ministry serving persecuted Christians and churches worldwide. They supply Bibles, leadership training, literacy programmes, livelihood support and advocacy services. In 2016 we raised enough money to help Open Doors provide emergency food and shelter to 22 families in Syria for a month. However, you’ll know that the global refugee crisis has not abated but has continued to rise. Quite rightly it’s been in the news and has dominated social media all year. Even with this enormous coverage, the persecution of Christians has often gone unnoticed and remains an unfamiliar issue to many of our decision-makers. Open Doors is calling on us to bring this untold story to the heart of Parliament by contacting your MP.
On 11 January 2017, we’re launching the Open Doors 2017 World Watch List in Parliament. At a meeting hosted by the Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP, we will highlight the link between the persecution of Christians and global displacement. And we need your help to get the message out to as many MPs as possible!
Over 5,500 people invited their MP to the 2016 launch. This incredible response led to a record 108 MPs attending! However, as the crisis escalates, persecuted Christians need more people than ever to contact their MPs, urging them to prioritise this event – to prioritise the persecuted church.
Please invite your MP to the meeting and place the plight of persecuted Christians at the heart of Parliament.
Please act now: Invite your MP today!
