Creation Fest exists to celebrate the good news of a God who loves us through festivals, events and gatherings designed to creatively communicate the Christian faith and inspire others to do the same.
The early discussions that took place in 2001 were rooted in prayer. London might have been the obvious choice, where local church support was well established and transport links made attracting visitors easier, but there was always something about a tiny corner of the South West of England that just wouldn’t go away.
“But it’s here” Phil Pechonis, pastor and founder of Creation Fest, would say. “All those surfers – they’re here. And they need to hear about Jesus!”
And so, years ago, in the sweet surf spot of Woolacombe, North Devon, Creation Fest held their first one-day event, in a field on the edge of the sea.
In 2009, we outgrew that field and moved our summer festival to the Royal Cornwall Events Centre, Wadebridge, Cornwall. We don’t just talk to surfers anymore, but our heart and vision have not changed.
We are proud to be a free-to-attend, gospel-centred festival. We are free because we believe that the good news of a God who loves us should be freely shared, freely heard, and free for all. We know that the need to share the gospel and equip the church is as great as it ever has been. Creation Fest continues to grow year-on-year, and we are grateful for those missional volunteers and financial partners who choose to stand with us and be part of this vision.
