Coming up at the beginning of November we are starting a new sermon series through the book of Acts.
The book of Acts is the historical account, written by Dr. Luke, of how Jesus is continuing His mission of bringing salvation to the nations through His church. When we join Acts in the first chapter we see Luke recalling the life and ministry of Jesus after He had risen from the dead and then ascending into heaven. The Kingdom Age that the apostles expected had not yet come, even though Jesus had inaugurated it at his resurrection. So, Jesus empowers his followers to live like Him until He returns. This is the book of Acts.
The church, empowered by the Holy Spirit, goes out into Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and finally to the end of the earth and magnifies Jesus in every place. We today are still a part of this story. We are disciples of Jesus who have been commanded to live like Him in every place on earth and call on everyone to following Jesus. We look for an hope in the final coming of Jesus when that Kingdom we will be fully realised.
