Well done is better than well said

Coming up in a few weeks time will be our last study in the Gospel of Luke. We’ve been studying verse by verse through it since November 2015. When we get closer to finishing I’ll post some concluding thoughts on this blog but for now I’m excited to tell you that our next book we’ll be studying will be James.

James was written by the half-brother of Jesus and leader of the Jerusalem church. The book is actually a letter that challenges believers to live lives of obedience by faith. That’s why we’ve chosen the theme: “Well done is better than well said”, spoken by Benjamin Franklin. It’s another way of saying: “actions speak louder than words” or, as James puts it:

I will show you my faith by my works

James 2:18

The Apostle John said the same thing:

.. let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

1 John 3:18

What does that mean? Well it means that genuine faith acts. Genuine faith does. Genuine faith works. James tackles the relationship between faith and works and why we need both. Join us, starting May 14th.
