A Small thing that Makes a BIG Difference

This week we start a new sermon series called “Small things Big Difference” and even before we get into the series I want to encourage you to make a small change that will make a big difference to your spiritual walk with Christ. Throughout these series, we’re going to be encouraging you to journal/take notes – on a Sunday morning, at your Life Group but also daily as you start encountering God’s Word for yourself.

We’re going to have a few dozen journals available for you on Sunday but I know some of you will want to go the extra mile and get something a little nicer. So, here’s my low down on the best journals you can buy:

Moleskine – my journal of choice that I’ve been using for years and years. From Italy, I use the Moleskine Squared A5 size. It’s of a good quality and the ink doesn’t go through.
Leuchtturm1917 – I know many people that use the Leuchtturm range and although a little more pricer than the Moleskine you won’t go far wrong if you choose this. These are the German Moleskine alternatives.
Field Notes – this is what America brings to the table in terms of notebooks. again I have friends who use these. One major upside is that they are cheaper than Moleskine and Leuchtturm and sold in packs of 3!

The other question that I get asked from time to time is about which pen to use. I know that sounds a little strange but actually, it’s a small thing that does indeed make a big difference. The two pens I’d recommend are either the Sharpie Pen (not the markers, this one) or (my favourite) the Pilot G2.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter whether you’ve got a cheap reporters notebook and ballpoint pen – the point is that you bring it along, engage in the process and ask God to teach you more about His wonderful grace!
